Also: - Save Red Cross, SPSA, and local emergency numbers in your phone. - Register with Red Cross or SPSA if required. - Keep a note of your medical info and an emergency contact. - Keep your vehicle fueled and ready to go.

Here are steps you can take: If you think there’s serious damage, shut off gas and power. If you smell gas, turn off the main gas valve and call the gas company and emergency services. Do not turn on lights or light any flames. Be careful going inside; watch for nails, glass, or weak floors. Wear proper boots and gloves. Take photos/video of everything that’s damaged (and model numbers if possible) before you throw anything out. Keep receipts and write down how much time you spend cleaning. That may be covered. Any appliances touched by water or fire foam should be checked by a qualified person before you use them.
